Just another Arc de Triomphe

No I was not drunk when I took this picture, I just wanted to fit the street lamp in it! But the real interesting piece here is definitely l'Arc de Triomphe du Caroussel du Louvre (The Louvre Caroussel Arch of Triumph) that you will see if you visit the Tuilerie gardens from the Louvre side. This arch was built in 1806 to celebrate the glory of Napoleon "for a change..."

  1. When I was in Paris, my hotel was not far from here. I got to see it several times a day for 9 days. It became my destination, a landmark to find my way. I love the angle!

  2. Jeff: Welcome to the Paris Daily Photo site. Check back often as the people who leave comments here are not your ordinary bloggers...they'll help you as you are trying to decide things to do and see. How is the widget working for you?

  3. Beautiful view Eric. I can never get night shots to come out right. Maybe I'll tilt my head more next time.

Have a good trip Jeff. Sounds like a lot of planning to do!

I think you'll find the widget for Eric's blog photos. I haven't downloaded it, but saw it here before.

  6. Man, I was at that very spot six months ago, and it was one of the hottest days of the year! Can't wait to go back to Paris! (And can't wait for the summer to come back!)

  7. Hi Eric! Beautiful, beautiful shot!! I love the blue sky and the arc looks fantastic! I just remember now of a beautiful arc in my college which is also very historical, came from Spain actually and withstood several earthquakes and world wars. I'd sure go back there to take a pic so i can share.

  9. Tomate Farcie: (love it with rice ;)
The widget requires Yahoo! Widget Engine to be installed on your PC or Mac. You can download Y!WE from http://widgets.yahoo.com. That's free software (uncheck Yahoo's 3 click boxes when installing to avoid advertising).
The ParisDailyPhoto widget is available from their gallery, but I suggest grabbing it from my webpage to get the latest version (Yahoo does not frequently update), which is http://fredbotton.free.fr
That's my tribute to Eric's fantastic blog! :)

  10. Encore une fois Eric, bravo! I love this shot! Did you touch it up with photoshop, or is this an unaltered shot? Either way, I need to learn how to take shots like this at dusk!

  16. I actually love that this photo is tilted. I think it would look fabulous printed out and hung on a wall. Of course, I have had a few glasses of pinot noir, so what do I know?

  17. Hey Eric! Just came across your blog and I like its concept. I was just writing something today about the Arc on my blog. I've lived in Paris for the past two and a half years and somehow I never did care about this monument. But now that I'm back home, I'm starting to miss it.
Hey would you mind if I added a link to your blog? My friends would enjoy reading you as well as I did.
    a +
